Kiama Blowhole

The blowhole is one of Kiama’s main tourist attractions. Under certain sea conditions, it can spray water up to 25 metres in the air. It is located on Blowhole Point Road, near the Kiama Visitor Centre.

There is a second, less famous blowhole in Kiama, known as the “Little Blowhole.” It is much smaller but, due to its narrow shape, is actually more reliable than the Big Blowhole. In the right conditions, it can be equally spectacular. It is located at Little Blowhole Reserve, Tingira Crescent, Kiama, a few minutes' drive south of the main blowhole.

Whale and Dolphin Watching

Every year, humpback whales and southern right whales migrate along the NSW coastline. They head north throughout June and in the first week of July, and return southwards from around September to November.

Jervis Bay, just one hour south of Gerringong, has the enviable reputation of being NSW's premier whale-watching destination. Come see why. Jervis Bay enjoys a longer whale-watching season than most. The highlight of the area is Jervis Bay's prominence on the coast, which attracts the southern migrating mothers and their calves inside the Bay for some rest and recreation.

A number of companies offer whale- and dolphin-watching tours on a daily basis. Please contact your guest services agent for more information or to book a tour.

Kiama Coastal Walk

One of the best ways to experience the stunning natural beauty around Gerringong on the South Coast is on foot. The spectacular 22-kilometre Kiama Coast Walk begins at Minnamurra and wanders past headlands, rivers, beaches and Kiama town centre to Blowhole Point – then on toward the Little Blowhole, passing more beaches and bays before arriving at Werri Beach in Gerringong.

The Kiama Coast Walk is broken into three sections. The six-kilometre stretch between Gerringong and Kiama Heights takes about two hours to complete. It is a delightful trail, winding along cliff tops with ocean views and bird life. Markers at every kilometre explain the fascinating history and geology of the area. The closest starting point for this spectacular coastal walk is at the northern end of Werri Beach, near Werri Lagoon.
